The Problem Every Game Master Knows

If you’ve ever run a tabletop RPG, you know the feeling.

You’re juggling NPCs, plot threads, secrets, lore, maps, player choices, and improvisation — all while trying to keep the story moving. Your notes are scattered across apps, documents, sticky notes, and half‑remembered ideas. You’re flipping between tabs, searching for details, or trying to recall the name of the innkeeper you introduced three sessions ago.

And in those moments, your FlowState — that magical zone where the story comes alive — slips away.

I’ve been there. In fact, I’ve been there for decades.

My Story as a Game Master

I started playing Dungeons & Dragons in 1982, beginning with First Edition and then AD&D. I was hooked instantly — the worlds, the characters, the creativity, the sense of shared storytelling. Over the years, I have been blessed to have GMed for and played with some of the best Dungeon Masters in my area.

For the last five years, I’ve been a professional Dungeon Master, running campaigns for players who have been “Forever DMs” at their home games. I’ve seen firsthand how much joy tabletop RPGs bring — and how much work it takes behind the scenes to make a session feel effortless.

I have worked hard to try to incorporate my player character’s backstory and motivations into the campaign and story arcs. I’ve been a Lazy DM, an Angry DM, a DM who knew what the monsters were doing and I tried to do it all well.

I didn’t have Matt Mercer’s keen recall of lore that he created. Nor did I have the strategic mind of Matt Colville, nor Aabria Iyengar’s ability to vividly describe a room and the emotions of its inhabitants without even glancing at notes. And I was overwhelmed.

The Inspiration: Edariad and Brennan

I recently saw Edariad’s video: Why Brennan’s D&D Prep Method Is GENIUS https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q-kLrzn_Ebk

When he talked about great DMs (Matt Mercer, Matthew Colville, Chris Perkins and Aabria Iyengar) all arriving at the same core conclusion. I knew he was on to something. And I was reminded of a Game Mastering Truth that I have known, but not fully recognized or come to terms with: Running great games isn’t about having the most notes.

It’s about using modular preparation, flowstate, and having the right information at the right moment.

And that’s where the idea for GM FlowWeaver was born.

The Vision: A Tool That Keeps GMs in FlowState

I wanted a tool that didn’t just store information — I wanted one that understood it.

A tool that could:
- Weave worlds, lore, NPCs, and StoryArcs into a coherent narrative system
- Surface the exact detail I needed during gameplay
- Reduce prep time without reducing creativity
- Help me stay in FlowState from prep to play
- Support both structured planning and improvisation
- Feel like a creative partner, not a spreadsheet

So I built it.

What GM FlowWeaver Does

GM FlowWeaver is an AI‑powered toolkit that helps Game Masters create, organize, and run their campaigns with clarity and confidence.

It takes everything you build — your worlds, your lore, your NPCs, your conflicts, your secrets — and transforms them into a living narrative fabric.

Then, during prep and play, FlowWeaver flows those pieces back to you in real time, like a set of narrative “toys” you can instantly pick up and use as the story unfolds.

No more digging.
No more searching.
No more losing track of threads.

Just smooth, immersive storytelling.

A Final Word

I’ve spent years behind the GM screen — from the earliest days of AD&D to running professional campaigns today. I know how much love, creativity, and effort goes into crafting unforgettable stories.

GM FlowWeaver is my way of giving something back to the community that shaped my life.

If you’ve ever wanted your sessions to feel smoother, richer, and more immersive — if you’ve ever wished you could stay in FlowState just a little longer — I’d be honored to have your support.
